Johnny C. Taylor Jr. is president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management. Author of the popular weekly USA Today column, “Ask HR” he is a member of the White House American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, and was appointed by former president Donald Trump as Chair of the President’s Advisory Board on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. In this conversation, Johnny reflects on his College experience, being the first-generation in his family to attend, and the importance of helping young people get “entrance into the game.” He explains how the higher education landscape is continuing to change, with 2020 being a symbolic year for race relations in the US, some of the bias is going away but the country still has a way to go. Lastly, Johnny describes the mentality needed to achieve the American Dream, and how in his opinion, education always pays off.
